Thank you for your patience.
The designated park, pick-up and drop-off location for guests of the US Virgin Islands Inaugural Ball is American University Katzen Arts Center Garage, which is a covered, underground parking facility with three levels. The Garage entrance is opposite the university’s main entrance on 4400 Massachusetts Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20016. Park in the lower two levels, P2 and P3. Elevators are available up to the main floor, a short walk to the street.
Shuttle service buses will be available to begin loading at 7:30 pm. The buses are scheduled to park on Massachusetts Avenue NW, at the front entrance of the Garage. Each bus will depart the Garage once full, and continue running between American University’s Katzen Arts Center Garage and the OAS all night until the Ball is over.
The last pick-up at the OAS is at 2 am for drop-off at the Garage.
Please be prepared to show your ID to the Coordinator on each bus in order to use the shuttle service, one-way or roundtrip. To avoid any possible confusion with another group using the garage that evening, each Bus Coordinator will have a list of guest names authorized to board the bus. In instances where one person paid for one or more persons, (i.e. payment is in one person’s name only), be sure that all of the persons in your group are present together for boarding BEFORE contacting the Bus Coordinator to gain access on the bus. Any other method is a logistical nightmare at this juncture.
Kindly be advised that VIID has no control over the timing of Secret Service’s removal of street barricades, which prohibits vehicular traffic into the “red zone”. We have been working tirelessly with Secret Service to transport guests as close as possible to the OAS. Today we were now told that the barricades should be removed by 8 pm that evening. IF the barricades have not been removed by the time of your arrival near the OAS, a short walk may be required. To account for this possibility, a comfortable pair of walking shoes may be a good idea for changing on site. You may need it anyway, to de-stress your feet after dancing all night!
